Cecilia Dela Cruz Alcalde

Home Manager Wens & Abilita

I came to Malta to work with Fondazzjoni Wens in 2008 working as a care worker.  It was a new experience for me working with a group of people with special needs, the residents needed my help and other staff to help them in their daily needs/tasks.

I was promoted to senior carer in 2018 and eventually after 2 years I was given the post of a home manager running two homes in Kalkara.

This is a very challenging job but on the other hand I am very satisfied that together with our staff we can provide the best service to our residents.

Rebecca Poulton

Support Services Officer

worked as a receptionist / secretary in a school of languages for 8 years. There I gained experience, and I improved my organisational skills and learned how to work with a team.

After a break to be with my children, I was eager to help those around me and I joined Fondazzjoni Wens in 2022 as Home Manager at Merhba. Within this role I found a great team of people who are always ready to guide, help and support persons with special needs.

Following my experience as a Home Manager, I was given the opportunity to serve as a Support Services Officer at Fondazzjoni Wens. This role includes assisting in HR, administration and operations.

Joey Aquilina

Home Manager Fgura

.I have been working in the disability sector for almost 20 years.  I have worked in different sectors, both day centres and residences.  I started as a support worker and occupied this role for fifteen years.  For the following year I was a senior and then got promoted as coordinator for two years.

I also studied in the disability sector including other various international diplomas.  I hae recently finished a MQF Level 5 in Community Access for disabled people.  I am currently purusing a diploma in Theatre Studies.

My aim is to lead towards Deinitialization and Active Support.  A quote that I like to use is ‘Everyone has his own abilities’.  With out support everyone can achieve his goals.  Let’s stop looking at the disability and start looking at the ability of a person.
